Welcome from Stephen Biss 1-877-273-3322
Allbiss Lawdata Ltd.
If you are a criminal law defence/defense lawyer, barrister, advocate, avocat, or attorney with an Impaired Driving/DUI/DWI practice you are welcome to join this database. It is hoped that we will all be able to use the information contained herein to refer business to each other. We encourage the participation of our colleagues outside Canada and the United States. Nous voulons inviter nos collègues de la francophoni en France, au Quebec, et du monde. All languages are welcome. (Send us an invitation in another language that we can add here). As the database grows we will add new provinces and states in other countries. There is no sign-up fee, no membership fee, no annual fee, and no referral fee. We reserve the right to modify or terminate this database or any part or entry therein at any time without notice. We also reserve the right to modify or terminate any member's individual, courthouse, license office, legislation, or other profile or data if his or her page(s) contains images without copyright authorization, plagiarized text, or other inappropriate (in our discretion) material.
If you have a web site we ask that you create at least one link to www.lawyers.ca with a text anchor such as "DUI Lawyers" or "DUI Attorneys Canada" and preferably build at your own site a page of "Out-of-State/Province DUI Links" that includes some part of the table at the bottom of this page. Just cut and paste from this page. Please feel free to delete the row for your own state or province. That way we end up creating high quality mutual links to each other without indirectly linking to competitors in the same state or province.
Even though there is no sign- up fee, no membership fee, no annual fee, and no referral fee, you are welcome to purchase an advertising banner at some of the state/province pages to help support this project. Those who purchase an advertising banner may also participate in the databases of motor vehicle license offices and court phones.
Before we can assign you a user name and password we need to establish that you are in fact a defence/defense barrister, solicitor, attorney or lawyer. Please send an application letter on your firm letterhead. We will email to you a user name and password and then please go directly to the Add Member page and enter the user name and password.
Once you have a user name and password, to take full advantage of all the hyperlinks automatically generated to your site, you should enter data in each field and area of the database. The more useful information you add the more likely it is that your website will receive hits from this database.
We realize that busy lawyers don't always have time to spare. You may have lots of useful information, hyperlinks, and images to add but little time to take full advantage of this database. If you have the time, do it yourself, for free. If you don't have the time, we may be able to assist in finding a university student who will build your practice, courthouses, legislation, and instruments profiles for a fee of about $250 to $300 US. To see a good example of what a university student can do, see Larry Taylor's profile and related FAQ, courthouses, and legislation at the database.
We are experimenting with making all lawyers' profiles available in other languages beyond English. The state pages now link to lists of attorneys in French and Polish. If you speak one of these languages you can add special text in that language in the appropriate field (eg. the francais field). Let us know if you would like to experiment with other languages.
All members of the database may add courthouse information. Add digital photos, parking information, location, courthouse web address and any other information you think the public might enjoy. Please also add an advertising banner to each of your courthouses by entering the URL for your banner. Please use your own digital camera to take your own photo of the courthouse, please don't plagiarize. If you do not yet have a photo of your local courthouses please add them anyway. You can add photos and advertising banners later when you have them.
Click on the courthouse image below for an example:
Adding an FAQ Page and State Data
Once your profile has been built go to your profile and choose the link "More FAQ Information about my State(s)". Once you've reached your FAQ page click on "Construct Page or Add Another State to FAQ". Add good information in each field. This data will then appear on several different pages including your FAQ page. Let us know if we need to add a state or province to the choices.
Adding a Motor Vehicle License Office (Paid Advertisers Only)
If you have purchased a banner ad at one of the pages please feel free to add motor vehicle license offices with banners linking back to your profile. Please use your own digital camera to take your own photo of the license office, please don't plagiarize. See the Colorado Directory of Motor Vehicle Offices for an example.
Adding to the Legislation Sections Database
Please feel free to add DUI legislation sections with banners linking back to your profile. It is best to add small pieces of legislation at a time. We find that persons using search engines look for specific parts of the legislation rather than the whole statute. Don't copy the whole statute. Do not include someone else's head notes, margin notes, cross-references, or other annotations. Feel free to add your own comments or critique. Please use your own digital camera to take your own photo of the legislature, please don't plagiarize. You can also create links to other reference sources or case commentaries, including those at your own web site.
Try to separate your legislation into the following categories. Click on the links below for the example of Ontario:
You are welcome to add a free advertising banner to the top of any Courthouse, Legislation, BAC Instrument, or Breath & Blood Department page that you create. Upload the advertising banner to your own server and insert the full URL address for the banner in the place provided. The banner will link back to your profile which in turn links back to your own web site. A number of us have found this to be an important source of hits at our own web sites. An advertising banner is something like this:
Click the banner to see an example of how it links. Graphics like this aren't very expensive. You can have the banner prepared professionally or you can get software to build your own. You can make a really simple one with word processing software. They are very valuable advertising tools.
Adding to the BAC Instruments Database
Please feel free to add the BAC Instruments used in your state or province with an advertising banner linking back to your profile. Add a separate page for each BAC instrument, screening device, blood machine, or simulator used in your state or province. Please use your own digital camera to take your own photo of one of these instruments, please don't plagiarize. There is lots of space to add additional html code including tables, photos, critique, and more. See the Ontario Intoxilyzer 5000C page for a sample of what you can do. Individual instrument serial numbers and individual SAS lot numbers can be added to separate pages to assist the local bar in tracking police use of and problems with specific instruments.
Adding to the Breath and Blood Standards and Departments Database
Please feel free to add a Breath and Blood Department responsible for standards used in your state or province with an advertising banner linking back to your profile. Add a separate page for each department or agency in your state/province/country that sets standards for the collection and analysis of breath and blood. Please use your own digital camera to take your own photo of the department's office please don't plagiarize. There is lots of space to add additional history and critique. See this page for a sample of what you can do.
Cell Phone Version of the Database
The cell phone version of this database is operational. If you have a mobile web-enabled device please key in and bookmark http://lawyers.ca/dui.wml or use "aredface" as a search engine key word. Wireless users are able to search for a lawyer or attorney by name, city, or state in the databases for the International Referral Database, the Criminal Lawyers' Association (Ontario) database, and the Peel Criminal Lawyers Association database. We also have a wireless DUI caselaw database, wireless students' DUI dictionary, and wireless lawyer's BAC calculator.
Adding to the Court Phone Numbers Database (Paid Advertisers Only)
This database provides profiles of phone numbers, fax numbers, location inside or outside the courthouse, and contact names for important government agencies such as District Attorneys, Crown Attorneys, Court Reporters, Court Registrars, Interpreter Co-ordinators, Public Defenders, and Legal Aid. Used in conjunction with a wireless telephone, mobile browsers can use the pages generated to create telephone lists with your advertising on top.
